Biography

New Music Monday - 8/18/2008

This week I'm featuring a semi-autobiographical song called 'Handful and a Half'. I wrote it for my wife as a way of saying 'Thanks for putting up with me'. I wrote it as part of my latest album-a-day, 'Waterfall of Consciousness'.

The idea of the 'album-a-day' is to try to write 20 minutes worth of music in a 24 hour time period. I've succeeded four times, and failed twice. I'm proud of my two most recent attempts, which were both done in August of 2008. Feel free to check them out if you like:

As for Handful, I think you hit on something pretty universal. Songs tend to travel pretty fast when that happens, and it's not something that comes easy. I think people luck into that more than anything. Being good at something doesn't always lead to popularity, unfortunately. Thing is, you plug at it anyway, not for the fame or money, but because this is who you are and this is what you want to do. And, beyond that, you've been nothing but cool to your fans. I've left several comments, and I even made a video with your "President of the Sony Entertainment" song, and every time I've contacted you, you responded ans was extrememly cool in the process. Not everyone has the time, patience, or willingness to do that.

	mathmanmrt (level 16) wrote: at 15 Aug 08 04:57pm i certainly admire your ability to take punishment =0 seriously, it seems like several artists in the neighborhood of level 14 seem to have hit the doldrums. admiral twin, grace buford, and rench come to mind. then again there are a few higher level artists with a similar problem--juel, ugress, and westmore just off the top of my head. just looking through the "new " list it looks like "fundamental pie" was the last song that posted. could that be right? forgive me for belaboring the painfully obvious but i'm just trying to get my thoughts together for a posting to maxbumps. take care and rock on!
